Holy Redeemer has brought back the Breakfast Window for the second year. The Breakfast Window provides students who are in need of a breakfast or snacks for the day from 8:00-8:25. Students are able to take a granola bar, piece of fruit, yogurt tube and a juice box to start their day. "This project has always been in the back of my mind and I wanted to do something easy and simple for the grade 7-12 student body," says Teacher Julie Rothwell. "At the elementary schools it’s easier to ensure students have the healthy food they need for the day with the programs being offered and I just felt like our “older” kids deserve to have healthy options available too if needed." Last year this program was seeing on average 40-45 students daily. "Kids regardless of their age shouldn’t have to worry about food at school and I am happy to make it accessible!" A huge thanks goes out to Cenovus Energy for their generous contribution to help maintain the program this year. If any other individuals or businesses would like to get involved, please contact Mrs. Rothwell at [email protected]. Here, Mrs. Rothwell is joined by grade 10 student Logan LaRose.
