To Our Living Waters Families:
As the conditions of the Wildfires from near and far continue to send thick smoke into the community of Edson, we know that there is potential for a severe respiratory response for those with pre-existing conditions. Out of an abundance of caution, we are closing our schools, Vanier Community Catholic School and Holy Redeemer High School tomorrow, Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Student and staff safety is our top priority.
To prevent the smoke from getting into our schools, we will need to shut down our HVAC systems. No air flow combined with high temperatures will make for an unhealthy learning and working environment within the school.
Additionally, heavy smoke is forecasted for tomorrow, which will create low-to-no visibility and potentially poor travel conditions. Grande Yellowhead will not run school buses on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023.
We will provide you with a status update at a similar time tomorrow, Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, based on the information we have at that time regarding Wednesday's operations.
