Dear Holy Redeemer Families:
As you are all aware, the Government of Alberta recently announced that all Grade 7-12 schools
will return to online schooling on Monday, November 30, 2020. Students are scheduled to return
to in-school classes on January 11, 2021. With this in mind, we would like to assure you that
your child's education remains of the utmost importance as we move into this Scenario. We
would like to share with you the changes in work expectations during this time. This is very
important information, as the expectations are very different in comparison to the last online
learning experience from March-June, 2020.
● Students are expected to adhere to their regular school schedules.
● Students are required to check in daily for each class for attendance purposes, which will continue
to be recorded in PowerSchool. Teachers are available daily and will guide you through this.
● All courses will continue to be taught, both core and options.
● Students are expected to complete all work assigned by their teacher and meet the assigned
deadlines.
● There will be final assessments for senior high core classes in January 2021. (Social Studies &
English Language Arts written portion 10%, other component 5% and Math & Science 10%
final exam)
● Diploma exams are optional for the 2020-21 school year. A Questions and Answers document is
posted on our website.
● Students will continue with online learning after Christmas holidays from January 4-8, 2021.
● Teachers will continue to provide instruction in a variety of ways to support student learning.
● No unallocated credits will be awarded to high school students during this time.
● Canniff & Associates will be online or available by phone for those students who wish to access
counselling services.
As per the letter sent from Superintendent Jo-Anne Lanctot on November 26, 2020, the Minister
of Education and Living Waters Catholic Separate School Division are committed to providing
opportunities for learning. At Holy Redeemer School, we are working diligently to ensure the
best educational experience for our students, until we return to in-school classes again.
Each student at Holy Redeemer School already has a school email address
([email protected]). This is the email address required for them to access
their teacher’s Google Classroom. If your child does not remember their login password, please
contact the main office at 780-723-7437 to have the password reset. At this time, we also ask
that all parents provide any demographic changes to our school secretary, Mrs. Bretzer. For
example, a new address or new phone number. Please let us know if you cannot access
PowerSchool or if you do not have access to a device and the internet.

Please be advised that paper copies will only be supplied for students who have absolutely no
means of accessing digital resources. This measure may be inconvenient, however, continues to
be necessary to ensure the health and safety of our staff. Pick up and drop off dates will be
arranged through the office.
We would like to thank you all for your support and patience. Our teachers will provide a quality
education online and support our students through this transition. Please do not hesitate to
contact your child’s teacher, or the main office if you have any specific questions or require tech
support. We remain committed to our Holy Redeemer students and families. May God bless you
all, and keep you safe in the palm of his hand!
Christmas Blessings,
Betty Churchill, Principal
