About Me

Mick Sahib is the new Assistant Principal at HRH. Mick grew up on a farm near the small town of Legal in rural Alberta, where he raised over 100 head of cattle, sheep and numerous chickens. After high school, Mick graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degree. Afterward, he pursued a Master of Science degree in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Manitoba. Upon graduation, he soon worked in a laboratory for the Public Health Agency of Canada in Winnipeg, where he contributed to making vaccines for Biosafety Level IV viruses. Mick has said that he has been blessed to have been trained by some of the best scientists in Canada. After working at the National Microbiology Laboratory, Mick decided to pursue teaching in secondary mathematics and science back home in Alberta. During this time, Mick set up two highly advanced STEM laboratories in high schools in the Edmonton area with funding provided by local grants. This last year, Mick served as a Principal in Northland School Division. In his spare time, Mick serves as the president of his local community association, and has volunteered at local fire departments on and off for the past 15 years.

Mick believes that having a faith-filled education is imperative for the creation of well-rounded and responsible citizens, and it is toward this end that he focuses his efforts. He as one daughter who is 10 and twin boys who are 8, and all of whom love the outdoors. He is proud to be a member of HRH for the coming school year.
