HRH Art Show, April 6

With the snow melting at an absolutely incredible pace, it means it is time to showcase the many talents of the Holy Redeemer Art Department at their annual Art Show.

The date for the Art Show is scheduled for April 6th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, in the foyer and chapel at HRH. The show will feature works from students in grades 7 through 12 and has become a much-anticipated tradition in the Edson fine arts community.

“This year’s show will feature works in acrylic, watercolour, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, and a variety of drawing mediums,” says Art Teacher Sandy Fedorak. “Every student who takes art class at the school has work featured in the show, which adds up to hundreds works of art.”

In addition to the fabulous art work, there will be some amazing displays of photography from the HRH Photography Department led by Photography Teacher Danielle Unger. “We are always excited to have an opportunity to showcase our work,” says Unger. “And this year we have some very interesting pieces to show.”

Since the school opened in 2003, the Art Department has become a vital member of the HRH community. Many students take six consecutive years of art, and often times alumni revisit the Art Room. The Art Department, along with the talented Industrial Arts classes, proudly display their talent in the sets for the fall productions. Student murals, works of art and window paintings create a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the school. “Many of our students attend Art Club on Wednesday nights as a way to create their work without the constraints of grades or class time,” says Fedorak. “In addition, it wonderful to watch these students connect with each other to build an art family within our school.”

As in past years, the Art Department will welcome school groups, local seniors groups, friends, family and the general public to a wonderful evening of refreshments, live music provided by the Music Department and stunning art displays for the Annual Art Show. Artwork will remain on display for the fantastic HRH Dessert Theatre on April 7th and 8th.

Needless to say, HRH loves the arts.
