Budget Adjustment

March 29, 2020

Dear Living Waters families,

On Saturday, March 28, 2020, Alberta Education announced its temporarily adjusting the kindergarten to Grade 12 funding based on the alternate model of learning school divisions are providing for the foreseeable future across the Province, and this includes Living Waters Catholic Separate Schools. To be open and transparent, the province’s decision to temporarily adjust the dollars provided to school boards will have an impact on the operations of our Living Waters Separate School Division. While we cannot yet provide you with details about how this will impact Living Waters at the moment, what we can tell you is every person working for the Division, regardless of their position, plays a vital role in ensuring students receive the best education possible in these unprecedented times, and all of them take great pride in their contribution.

With the most recent announcement from the Minister, we are still trying to understand its impact and we are still waiting to hear further details. Superintendents will be receiving further information and direction, which will assist our Senior Leadership Team and School Administration in making decisions as we continue to navigate these uncertain times. We ask that you give us the gift of time and patience as we learn more about the details of the funding formula adjustment and what it will mean for Living Waters. We will continue to communicate pertinent information to our stakeholders as we continue to make sense of the path forward.

These are challenging times and no one is immune to the impact of COVID-19. We will get through this together. Please continue to pray, asking for wisdom and guidance of our leaders, courage and calm of our admin and staff, strength and health for our frontline workers, for our families and our students and for continued patience and unwavering adherence to measures that are necessary for flattening the curve. My prayers continue for each and every one of you, and I pray that when this is over, we can all start anew, in our new normal; braver, stronger and healthier as a community and as a division.

We want to assure you that we are on track with our continuity in education plan and are committed to providing the best education possible in these times. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.

Yours in Christ,

Jo-Anne Lanctot

Superintendent
