Living Waters Update

March 20, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As Superintendent of Living Water Schools, I would like to take this time to thank all students and families for their patience and understanding over the past week. I would also like to recognize the dedication and commitment of our administrators, our teachers, and our support staff who continue to do the work at their schools on a daily basis. We are working our way through unprecedented times and together our school staff are working on plans to deliver continuity of programming that aligns with the guidelines released today by the Minister of Education. Please be advised that our Edson Schools will be closed to operations over the Spring Break from March 23 to March 31st . The first day back for operations in Edson will be April 1st.

As previously mentioned in a prior letter, our platform for online learning will be Google Classroom, and our teachers have been building their capacity to deliver programming through technology. In addition, our staff is transforming existing plans into resources that can be used electronically, online, and in other ways for those unable to access technology. We have assessed the level of families who have access and those who do not. For those wishing to purchase technology, our Technology Supervisor is researching options for purchasing technology at this time, and information will be forthcoming.

The continuity of education in Living Waters will be a learning experience for us all, and will require continued patience and practice as we move forward, and we need to recognize that we are all in this together. For families who do not have access to technology or internet, alternate packages will be created for pick up at each of our schools understanding that clear protocols and processes must be followed for pick up and drop off to minimize risk of the health and well-being of all stakeholders. These protocols will be communicated directly from your schools.

With the most recent direction from the Ministry, your schools will provide you with pertinent information that will guide the process and enable your child/student to continue their education in these unique times. We anticipate that programming will start April 3, 2020 in your community. As we begin, we will go week by week, and we will be seeking feedback from all stakeholders, so that we can assess and adjust our programming, should it be necessary. Please be advised, as parents your first line of communication will be with your child’s teacher (via email).

We are in this together as partners in education. Working together as we navigate these uncharted waters will result in better experiences for the students. We continue to keep the faith and keep all of our Living Waters staff and families in our daily prayers, knowing that with God, all things are possible. We’ve got this!

Yours respectfully,

Jo-Anne Lanctot
