On October 17th, the students and staff at Holy Redeemer had a very special guest, Ms. Phyllis Webstad, who is a Residential School survivor. Her story inspired Canadians to adopt September 30th as Orange Shirt Day - in remembrance of all the First Nations Peoples who suffered in Residential Schools. The HRH community was truly in awe of her emotional presentation that detailed the tragedies that took place within the Residential School system. By listening to Ms. Webstad and her story, it brings HRH students one step closer to understanding our past and moving towards reconciliation. Here, Ms. Webstad stops for a photo with local Edson Elder Frieda Maynard.
