The Holy Redeemer Senior High volleyball teams continue their strong season in 2018 after some impressive tournaments on the weekend of October 20th.
The Senior Boys and Senior Girls travelled to Hinton to take on some stiff competition.
The Boys squad a strong weekend of games. To get to the semi-final, they had to make a dramatic comeback to win in the third set by a score of 15-13. In the end, the team finished in third place.
“This team is really coming together strong,” says Head Coach Danielle Unger. “I know there is still improvement to make as we get to the last month of the season, but thus far I’ve been really happy with what I have seen.
The team is made up of grade 10 students Keylan Frizorguer, Ashton Melnyk and Elias Tobin, grade 11 students Tyler Ahlefeldt, Stephen Domshy, Gavin Kerr, Jarrett Pelkey, Landon Schutz and Hunter Willox, and grade 12 students Justin Breault, Carl DeLeeuw, Ethan Gole, Kale Mole and Corbin Nitz.
The Senior Girls also had an impressive showing after they defeated a very big opponent on route to the semi-final by winning 25-13 in the second set. The Rebels then finished in a very distinguished third place.
The Girls squad is composed of Parker Birbeck, Kiley Bischke, Alex Beckman, Mackenzie Domshy, Summer Gargus, Peyton Gole, Linda Hawke, Julia Kerr, Teagan Nykyfork, Samantha Olivier, Anika Parslow, Kathlyn Redlick, and Aubrey Roth.
The Junior Varsity Girls also had an impressive weekend of games as they went to Westlock. The girls fought hard and came up short in a number of close games. The Girls squad ended the weekend in a respectable fifth place after showing a lot of grit and a ton of growth. After this weekend of games, the team wishes to finish the season strong over the next month.
The JV Girls Rebels are made up of Alexis DeLeeuw, Kathy Gomez, Brooke Grycak, Tamara Halland, Evleen Jumaga, Brooklyn Lubarsky, Cassie Muldoon, Raina Pasion, Leigha Pape, Abby Proskow, Ellie, Vanderhoek, Andir Vanderveen and Laura Van Dyk.
