HRH Football Program Produces All Stars

The Holy Redeemer Football Program has a proven record of producing excellent athletes. And with the recent announcement that nine HRH players will be playing in Alberta’s All Star game, there is no doubt that this program is truly exceptional.

On April 28th, eleven HRH players attended the Northern Alberta All Star game tryouts in Lacombe. After a day-long try-out, nine of the players will be joining the Northern Alberta All Star team in the Fourth Annual Six-Man Football All Star Game on May long weekend.

“This says so much about our young athletes,” says Head Coach Mike Bachinsky who will also serve as the All Star team’s Defensive Coordinator. “Each of them has worked incredibly hard to learn and master this sport, and now they have the opportunity to represent our school and Town. This makes me incredibly proud.”

The players were either chosen to play on the Offence or Defence. Making up the Offensive side of the team are grade 10 students Garrett Inscho (Running Back), Ryhker Lamabe (Tight End), and Landon Schutz (Quarterback), and grade 12 students Brian Birkenhagen and Richard Webb (Tight Ends).

“For Landon to be chosen as the team’s quarterback and only being in grade 10 says this young man is certainly someone to watch in the future,” says Bachinsky.

On the defensive side of the team, it will see the following students take to the field: grade 10 student Braden MacEachern (Linebacker), grade 11 students Justin Butts and Taylor MacEachern (Linebackers), and grade 12 student Shawn Rogers (Defensive End).

In addition to the upcoming All Star game, the HRH Rebels team has been busy with their spring training. The team has been working out after school since late March and will play in two football jamborees during the month of May.

Also, the entire community is welcome to go to Bannister GM on Saturday, May 26th for the annual Drive to the End Zone event. For every vehicle that is taken for a test drive between 11 am and 3 pm, Bannister GM will donate $20 to the Rebels Football Program. There will also be a barbeque on hand with burgers and much more.

And with all this said and done, the team continues to train and prepare for 2018 season that begins in September.
